Lead Optician

LMC Optometry & Eye Care

Position Function:

Currently, our rapidly expanding team is looking for a Lead Optician for the LMC Vaughan location. This is a permanent, full-time position with great potential for advancement.

The Lead Optician supports our Eye Care clinic and is responsible for dispensary and optimizing patient care by fulfilling the duties and responsibilities set out for this position.

Essential Functions:

  • · Responsible for managing daily dispensary operations
  • · Demonstrates good people development skills including coaching, mentoring and on the job training of all dispensary staff
  • · Acts as liaison with optometrists to serve their needs; escalate to Regional or Director when needed
  • · Manage patient complaints, demonstrate good negotiating skills and deliver outstanding customer service
  • · Demonstrate strong team building skills, provide leadership and motivation
  • · Ensure profit levels for the store are optimized
  • · Manage progress towards clinic performance and productivity goals
  • · Works in conjunction with Regional Manager on recruiting, providing orientation, training and development of staff
  • · Execute on buying strategy and manage inventory levels, meet with sales reps to select product, assure cost of goods are in line and follow clear guidance and direction set by Director
  • · Responsible for collection of accounts receivable and following guidelines
  • · Provide input on marketing and promotions for clinic
  • · Skilled sales person
  • · Skilled optician in dispensing both frames and contact lenses
  • · Experience in an optical retail environment (min 3 years)
  • · Management or supervisory experience (min 2 years)
  • · BA preferred, Registered Optician with the College of Ontario Registered Opticians License (minimum 3 years)
  • · Strong interpersonal and effective communication skills
  • · Strong people management skills
  • · Proficient in exercising initiative, judgement, problem-solving, decision-making
  • · Proficient in building trusted relationships with doctors
  • · Adept at planning, organizing, delegating and supervising
  • · Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment
  • · Excellent customer service skills and conflict resolution
  • · Superior time management skills, strong administration/organizational skills
  • · Excellent attention to detail is required
  • · Strong computer and technology skills
  • · Effective sales skill and a proven sales record are a must
